On the Cross Country Recovery Road Less Traveled

I Am Navy Medicine – from Pacific Partnership to 3rd Med Battalion – Cmdr. Mathie

Naval Hospital Bremerton, Washington — HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Aug. 31, 2022) - Lt. Cmdr. Cameron Mathie, from Chalfont, Pennsylvania, right, assists patients with medical personnel at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara during Pacific Partnership 2022. It was during his deployment as part of the mission that Mathie was informed he had been selected as the next chief nursing officer for the Marine Corps' 3d Medical Battalion Now in its 17th year, Pacific Partnership is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Pacific Partnership is a unifying mission that fosters enduring friendships and cooperation among many nations. Naval Hospital Bremerton, Washington — When an earful about an ear full is needed, Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class John Ong can provide any such helpful cautioning. Immigration Physicals an exam away at NMRTU Everett

NMRTU Everett, Washington — Oct. 4, 2022 - Providing a helping heath care hand... Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Jasmin Damian, assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness Training Unit Everett took it upon herself to craft a standing operating procedure to help guide - and streamline - the process of providing immigration physicals to those in need. "An immigration physical is an integral part of the entire process required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to establish applicants seeking immigration benefits and is not inadmissible to the United States public health," explained Damian, stressing the immigration physical is unlike any other physical which an eligible beneficiary can request at any military treatment facility like NMRTU Everett (courtesy photo).

Part of a Quality Quartet of Chief Selectees

Naval Hospital Bremerton, Washington — In the Navy, each eligible Sailor for chief is required to be selected by a ranking and selection board composed of master chiefs who actively chooses the future leadership from the most capable Sailors, considering both their aptitude as technical experts and ability as leaders. To signify the new leadership position of the chief petty officer rank, the time honored tradition of the chief’s pinning was created at the pay-grade’s inception in 1893.
